“Design with the Other 90%: CITIES,” the second exhibition in the series, will examine the complex issues arising from the unprecedented rate of urban growth projected to take place over the next 20 years, primarily in the informal settlements of the global south. Organized by Cynthia Smith, curator of socially responsible design, along with a 10 person advisory committee, the exhibition will explore the multidisciplinary, overlapping relationships among urban planning and design, education, social entrepreneurship, climate change, sanitation and water, migration, public health and affordable housing in these communities. As part of “Design with the Other 90%: CITIES,” the museum will make the information it gathers in the field accessible through an online open-network database, which will enable designers, communities and other stakeholders to work together to develop design solutions to these challenges. This important dialogue will also continue through a scholarly catalog and robust education programs.

As I hope you all know, tomorrow is the International Peace Day, mainly known through the actions of the charity Peace One Day who is working toward a Global Truce on September 21st 2012.

In addition to organizing "Blog-one-Day", an event using new social technology to bring young people all around Kosovo to express their idea about peace, the Innovations Lab will hold its 21st Innovations Cafe.

After 10 months (and 2 days) of hard work the Lab has had great results and the monthly Innovations Cafes, bringing people from various background together and fostering ideas and discussions is one of them.

It would be great to see many of you come and celebrate this success as well as Peace and its many faces!

We will screen a very inspirational movie and hope it will empower you to share ideas and act on them!

You are welcome to join Blog one Day from 3 to 5pm, where young people will be challenged to think about peace in different ways as well as the Cafe later on.

We hope to see many of you engage actively on this International Day of Peace.

INDEX: Award is the world’s largest monetary prize for design. What sets the INDEX: Award apart from other design awards is its focus on “Design to Improve Life”. INDEX: is looking for designs that target and solve the challenges and problems of human life.

INDEX: Award is split into five categories: Body, Home, Work, Play and Community. One prize worth 100,000 Euros will be presented to the winner in each category. The five categories represent the entire human life, and each category calls for entries from very different design fields.
